Mrs. Sara McNeil
The
Rev. N.T. Wright says the arts “are the highways into the center of a
reality which cannot be glimpsed, let alone grasped, any other way.”
I am delighted to have the opportunity to navigate such highways with
students at MVCA this year. I believe the artistic disciplines are
important means for developing holy imagination and spiritual formation-
in children and adults alike. We have a strong impulse to create and to
bless the world around us with beauty because Christ has called us to
participate in the building of His kingdom. I hope to help every student
grow more fully into that kingdom by exercising the attention, wonder,
and expression which the arts cultivate.
I was born, raised, and lived in Salt Lake until my family and I moved to
Montana in 2022. I have a B.A. in History from the University of Utah
and have worked in many different education fields- from ballet, to
emergency management, to running the history program in our homeschool
co-op. I love to talk with people about history, philosophy, theology,
symbolism, art, worship, literature- all the things that give texture to
our experience in this life and lead us “further up and further in.” My
hands are happiest when drawing, painting, knitting, sewing, or
collecting treasures from nature. My heart is happiest with my husband
and children and when I’m in worship with God’s people.
