Program Hours and Days

Education hours for full day students begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal/pick-up is at 3:30 p.m.

Education hours for half day students begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal/pick-up is at 12:30 p.m.

Parents have the option to enroll their Pre-K student for half-days or full days. The minimum number of days a student must attend is 2 half-days.

Beginning of The Year Testing

Testing of each new student by the K3 and K4 teachers will be completed two weeks prior to the start of the school year. Baseline testing is vital to determine where each preschool student’s academic and social starting points are.

Trial Period

For 3-year-olds and new students, we will partner with parents and enact a 4-week trial period. We will assess if a preschooler is socially and academically prepared, ensuring a good fit for both the student and the school. After three weeks, if any concerns arise, the teacher will discuss them with the parents to create a plan for the student's success. If, after four weeks, it still seems like the student isn’t a good fit, the teacher and principal will meet with the parents to review the shared documentation and discuss the possibility of unenrolling the student if needed.

If it is determined that a student is unenrolled, we will waive the $100 withdrawal fee and refund the first month’s tuition. We recommend that parents wait until after the 4-week trial period to pay in full; however, those who choose to pay in advance will still receive the 3% discount.

Additional Information

• Students need to be three-years old by the first day of school.

• MVCA will not enroll a student midway through the year.

• We reserve the right to unenroll a student after a four-week trial period if it is determined that the placement is not a good fit, if safety concerns arise, or if ongoing behavioral challenges remain unresolved.

• MVCA is unable to provide specialized services for students with special needs.

• Parents are required to complete 20 volunteer (PIP) hours.

Expectations of the students enrolled in the program:

• Are fully potty-trained and can go to the bathroom independently.

• Be able to wash their hands and change clothes by themselves if needed.

• Follow directions and simple instructions.

• Actively participate in and understand age-appropriate lessons as a part of the curriculum.

• Should develop a sense of independence from their parents.

MVCA Parent-Student Handbook 2025-2026 Revised July 2025 Page 41 of 41

From a liability standpoint, if a child has soiled themselves, and they are not able to change their clothes, we will institute the rule of threes:

1. An MVCA staff member will be contacted to come supervise the class.

2. Both K3 and K4 teachers will help the child clean up.

a. Teachers are unable to assist students with personal care tasks such as wiping or changing students’ clothes.

3. The parents will be contacted and informed about the incident.

We look forward to partnering with you this upcoming school year! If you have any questions about our program, please do not hesitate to ask! We want to reassure you that your child’s growth is important to us. We are dedicated to supporting them as they develop academically and, most importantly, as a servant leader in Christ.

Pre-Kindergarten Dress Code

• Elastic pants- (pants that students can easily pull up and down by themselves). An example of this would be leggings.
